The South-west All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups have expressed their concerns about the current situation where most of President Bola Tinubu’s appointments are being given to individuals they refer to as ‘Lagos boys’.
In a statement jointly signed by the Coordinator of the APC groups, Dele Fulani, and the Secretary, Lanre Asiwaju, they highlighted their worries that if this trend continues unchecked, it may lead to unrest within the South-west under Tinubu’s leadership.

The support groups conveyed their displeasure to President Tinubu, pointing out that it is unacceptable for politicians from Lagos State to dominate all the benefits that should be shared among the entire South-west region. They emphasized that Lagos is not the only state in the South-west and urged for a more inclusive approach.

The groups noted that a significant number of the recent appointments made by Mr. President have been given to politicians based in Lagos, even though they might not all be indigenes of the state. This concentration of appointments from one state is disconcerting to them, and they fear it may hinder the promised national inclusion.
The support groups brought attention to the recent committee constituted for appointing boards of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). They pointed out that the appointment of the Chief of Staff, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as the chairman over the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, seemed improper according to hierarchy and protocol. They advocated for the SGF to be made the chairman, with an APC representative as the secretary.
The support groups expressed their desire for a more balanced and fair representation in the appointments, without undue favoritism towards any particular group.
