Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has addressed allegations claiming that his administration has neglected individuals with disabilities.
Earlier this week, Uche Ajuluchukwu, the former Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, accused the governor of failing to allocate funds for the Disability Commission in the state since taking office.
The Disability Commission expressed feeling overlooked by the current Soludo-led government.
In response to these claims, Governor Soludo’s press secretary, Christian Aburime, issued a statement refuting the allegations.
Aburime stated, “It is regrettable that Mrs. Ajuluchukwu has chosen to distort the facts regarding Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment for all citizens, including Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).”
He continued, “Her accusations against Governor Soludo’s administration are not only misguided but also lacking in truth. If there was no hidden agenda, one might assume that she spoke out of sheer ignorance.”
Aburime highlighted that contrary to Ajuluchukwu’s assertions, Governor Soludo’s administration has undertaken significant efforts to enhance the well-being and empowerment of vulnerable segments of society, including PWDs.
“It is evident that Mrs. Ajuluchukwu has not taken the time to thoroughly research the government’s initiatives before making such unfounded allegations.”
“To provide clarity, the Anambra State Government, through the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, has empowered approximately twelve vulnerable NGOs and associations in the state.”…[CONTINUE READING HERE]>>>
