Eleven ECOWAS Leaders Arrives Abuja for Urgent Niger Coup Talks

A significant gathering of leaders from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) is currently underway in a secluded session in Abuja, addressing the pressing matter of the military coup that has transpired in Niger Republic. Out of the sixteen ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, eleven are in attendance at this critical Extraordinary summit.

The venue for this crucial summit is the historic Old Banquet Hall at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, as reported by FRESHREPORTERS MEDIA.

Among the distinguished leaders partaking in the discussions are ECOWAS Chairman and Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu; President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone; President Umaro Mokhtar Sissoco of Guinea Bissau; and President Everiste Ndayishimiye of Burundi.

Notable figures also present include President Alassane Ouattara of Cote d’Ivoire, President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania, President Nana Akofo-Ado of Ghana, President Macky Sall of Senegal, President Patrice Talon of Benin Republic, and Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé Eyadéma of Togo.

It’s worth mentioning that The Gambia and Liberia have chosen to be represented by their respective Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

Notably absent are the heads of state from the countries currently grappling with internal challenges – Niger Republic, Mali, Chad, and Burkina Faso.

The primary focus of this gathering revolves around charting the course of action following the resolutions and ultimatums issued to the Nigerien junta.
