Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, continues his efforts to settle the salary debts of state workers, fulfilling a promise made during his 2022 governorship campaign.
In accordance with the payment template issued earlier this year, the governor has approved another installment of half-salary arrears to be paid on a quarterly basis.
This marks the third settlement of half-salary arrears by the current administration, with the first and second quarters already paid. The third quarter payment will be disbursed alongside the July salary.
The governor inherited about N26 billion in half-salary arrears and N50 billion in pension-related debts from the previous government of Rauf Aregbesola.
Despite the challenging fiscal situation, Adeleke reaffirms his commitment to faithfully implementing the payment template and ensuring the gradual clearance of the inherited salary arrears.
He emphasizes the government’s dedication to prioritizing workers’ welfare, even as they work towards infrastructure development and economic growth at the local level.
