Osun Community In Sober Reflection As Man 70-year-old Kill Self

The residents of Ede community in Osun State were thrown into mourning on the 10th of July, 2023 after a 72-year-old man identified as Kareem Aderemi, Passed on by su!cide.

The deceased who was revealed to have been battling Parkinson disease and partial blindness, reportedly shot himself d€ad with a gun at his residence.

Kehinde Adeleke who confirmed this incident to newsmen, as the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state, revealed that the deceased was said to have been living alone without adequate care.

According to her,

“On July 10, 2023, around 12.50pm, at Alapo’s compound, Ede, Ede North LGA, one Kareem Aderemi, 72, of 45, allegedly committed su!cide by shooting himself on the lower jaw with a local barrel. Preliminary investigation revealed that late Aderemi had been battling with Parkinson’s disease and partial eye problems without adequate care. We learnt he had been living alone for some months before he allegedly committed su!cide.

It is pertinent to state that late Aderemi had a licensed barrel, and he had always been with his barrel since he partially lost his sight. But no one knew he had a cartridge with which he used to ki!l himself.” she said

Adeleke mentioned that the police had retrieved and taken custody of the gun used to commit the act, as the c@rpse was being prepared for burial.
