Nollywood actor Nosa Rex has addressed the controversy surrounding film industry professionals using dance on social media to promote their work. He advises established veterans, or “OGs,” to adopt modern marketing methods instead of opposing them.

According to Rex, the goal of dancing isn’t a direct sales pitch for a movie. Instead, it’s a strategy to capture attention, entertain viewers, and create engagement, which then helps spread the promotional message. “You don’t dance to sell your film. You dance to engage people, entertain them, and then they help you share the message,” he explained.

He argued that the traditional approach of simply announcing a film’s release is no longer effective in the current digital landscape, where audiences gravitate toward interactive and entertaining content.

Rex cautioned that industry veterans risk being outpaced by a rapidly evolving market if they refuse to adapt. He pointed out that a new generation of creators is already setting the trends.

Citing actress and producer Toyin Abraham as a successful example, he noted that her active and trend-savvy social media presence, which includes dancing, aligns with her consistent box-office achievements.
