Alaba Lawson, a highly respected figure in Yorubaland and a former leader of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture, has sadly passed away.
She was not only a renowned businesswoman but also the founder of the well-known Alaba Lawson Group of Schools in Abeokuta. Her death occurred in the early hours of this Saturday.
The news of her passing was confirmed through a statement issued by AbdulRahman Maku, the Executive Secretary of the Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture.
In the official statement, it was expressed with great sadness, “We are deeply saddened to inform the public of the passing of the former President of NACCIMA and the respected Matron of ABEOCCIMA, Iyalode Alaba Lawson.”
“Her full titles were MFR (Member of the Order of the Federal Republic) and JP (Justice of the Peace), and she held the honorable title of Iyalode of Yorubaland.”
“This loss occurred in the early hours of today, Saturday, the 28th of October, 2023. The family will provide information about her burial arrangements at a later time.”
“We pray for the peaceful repose of Iyalode’s soul.”
Alaba Lawson, who was born on January 18, 1951, was a prominent figure in Nigeria, known for her achievements as a business magnate, educator, and advocate for women’s empowerment.
