In another devastating blow to Nollywood, actor Chikezie Uwazie has tragically passed away, following in the recent footsteps of fellow actors Saint Obi, Murphy Afolabi, and Adedigba Mukail, who also left us too soon.
Chikezie Uwazie reportedly lost his life after undergoing brain surgery in the United States. The news of his passing was shared by his colleague, Obey Etok, through an emotional post on her Instagram page on Sunday.
In disbelief, she wrote, “I can’t fathom that I’m posting this. Chikezie Uwazie goneeeee. After a 2nd brain surgery. Gini na emezi. I’m so shocked to get this news this evening. Just got this from our IMSU alumni platform.”
Etok reminisced about their conversations, saying, “I thought you told me you were going to the States for greener pastures. You promised to come back some years back but I didn’t see you.”
Overwhelmed by grief, she concluded, “I can’t believe you are gone, but God knows best. Rest on Chyko.”
Chikezie Uwazie, who had relocated to the United States seven years ago, had made his mark in the Nigerian film industry. He appeared in notable movies such as “Musical Whispers,” “Village Destroyer,” “Last Kiss,” and many others, leaving behind a memorable body of work.
