A woman, Innocent Serah, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing her husband, Innocent Nwaọjị, to death in Umuokereke Ngwa, Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
The incident occurred on Saturday night, shocking residents of the community.
While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, sources said Nwaọjị was allegedly stabbed while he was asleep.
A community member, David Amaraizu, confirmed the incident on Sunday, revealing that the couple had married in December 2025 barely eight months before the tragedy.
“We are not aware of any disagreement between the couple before the incident. The woman has been arrested and is currently in police custody, while the deceased’s body has been deposited at a morgue,” he said.
Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, said she would get back to our correspondent, but had yet to do so at the time of this report.
