Bandit Kingpin Ado Aleiro Loses Son, 8 Family Members, and 30 Motorcycles in Katsina Clash

Notorious bandit leader Ado Aleiro has suffered a major blow after his son, eight other family members, and approximately 30 motorcycles were lost in a recent confrontation in Doma village, Katsina State.

According to intelligence gathered by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, the losses have severely undermined the operational capacity and mobility of Aleiro’s syndicate.

An intelligence report dated August 9 revealed that none of the 30 motorcycles deployed by the gang during the clash returned, with their riders believed to have been neutralised.

The report also confirmed that Aleiro’s son and eight other relatives were killed in the encounter.

The loss of the motorcycles is significant, as they are commonly used by criminal groups across the North-West for swift movement, supply delivery, communication, and evading security forces.

In the aftermath, intelligence sources indicated that Aleiro was seen moving alone on a motorcycle around the Sakya Dutse, Higi, and Asaula areas as of 3:51 p.m. on Sunday, with security operatives tracking his movements.

Further intelligence suggested that Aleiro was worried about the safety of a site he intended to use for illegal mining at Gidan Buhari, Chadiya Ward, Tsafe LGA, Zamfara State, fearing it could be targeted by Yansakai operatives from Tsafe town.

Security sources believe this development could present an opportunity for security forces to ramp up operations against the weakened syndicate and prevent surviving members from regrouping.

The incident comes amid ongoing military campaigns against bandits in Zamfara, Katsina, and neighbouring states under Operation FANSAN YANMA.
