An aide to the Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara revealed that his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, handpicked and assigned all cabinet positions, including commissioners, special advisors, and key aides.
In an interview, the aide revealed Fubara had no say in the appointments. Wike, he claimed, solely chose and appointed all officials.
The advisor sees the recent resignations of some commissioners as proof of their loyalty to Wike, not Fubara.
“These resignations show they weren’t the governor’s picks,” he explained. “Wike picked them, not Fubara. He gave the governor a list with specific roles and offices, even telling him where to place security officers. How could Fubara appoint people who’d leave after seven months?”
The advisor also addressed Wike’s claim that he paid for the nomination forms of all elected officials, including Fubara.
“Yes, the former governor was correct to say he bought the forms for everyone. But pray, with which money? You know the salary of a governor and you know the cost of nomination and expression of interest forms for the Peoples Democratic Party.
