West African Defence Chiefs Meet In Abuja

Defence Chiefs hailing from various West African countries are currently holding a crucial meeting at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

The gathering comes on the heels of the Economic Community of West African States’ recent issuance of a stern seven-day ultimatum to the military junta in Niger Republic.

The ultimatum demands the prompt relinquishment of power to the democratically elected government of Muhammed Bazoum.

Following an extraordinary session presided over by ECOWAS Chairman, President Bola Tinubu, in Abuja, the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Omar Touray, disclosed that all Chiefs of Defence Staff from the member states are set to convene for an emergency meeting.

The primary aim is to strategize on effective measures to potentially carry out a military operation aimed at restoring Muhammed Bazoum to his rightful position of power. (CONTINUE READING HERE)
