An intense demonstration erupted at the National Assembly in Abuja on Wednesday as furious protesters, organized by the Nigerian Labour Congress, took matters into their own hands.
The leaders of the Organized Labour, Joe Ajaero of the Nigeria Labour Congress, and Festus Osifo of the Trade Union Congress led the charge.
The protesters demanded that the security operatives present at the legislative building open the gates to allow them entry into the National Assembly.
However, when the security officials refused to comply, the protesters’ frustration reached a boiling point.
In a dramatic turn of events, the protesters decided to take matters into their own hands and forcefully pulled down the gates.
The gate was seen swaying back and forth as the protesters pushed it before it eventually succumbed to their determination and came crashing down.
The situation has raised significant concerns about security and the ability of the authorities to manage large-scale protests effectively.
