The Organised Labour, consisting of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), has expressed its reconsideration of the nationwide strike initially planned for Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
The strike, which was set to begin with a mass protest, is now subject to review following the rescheduled presidential steering committee on palliatives meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
Emma Ugbaja, the general secretary of the NLC, stated that although President Bola Tinubu’s announced measures were welcomed, they were deemed insufficient in addressing the concerns of the labour unions.
As a result, the labour unions are engaging in consultations with their members to reach a consensus on the best course of action before the day concludes. Further updates will be communicated based on the outcome of these consultations. (CONTINUE READING HERE)
