The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has issued a stern warning to critics while asserting that his current capacity and influence dwarf what he wielded as a state governor. Speaking to his Ngbo community in Ebonyi State, Umahi urged unity and disregard for “noise makers.”
“You must accept me as one of your own. Don’t listen to noise makers. My capacity is like ten times when I was governor,” Umahi stated.
He emphasized his formidable position in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, declaring, “I’m very, very dangerous now. Let nobody fall on me because the cost is very dangerous.” The remarks were met with applause from the audience, whom he repeatedly engaged with the question, “Nnoo nu o?” (“Are you there?”).
The former Ebonyi governor called on the community’s prominent figures to unite and approach him directly, promising swift action. “We have the capacity to do good things for the Ngbo people… Let them approach me. Whatever is their need, they will have it done,” he assured.
Umahi further highlighted the financial prowess of his family, crediting divine blessing for their ability to underwrite major projects. “This Umahi family now… are capable of funding anything,” he said, noting their readiness to “over-contribute” to community development initiatives.
