Reports indicate that Governor Uba Sani has declined the proposed ministerial candidate, Jafaru Sani, put forward by former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s consideration.
FRESHREPORTERS MEDIA reports that following the controversy surrounding Jafaru Sani’s confirmation at the Senate, El-Rufai had conveyed his decision to withdraw his ministerial consideration to President Tinubu. He had nominated Jafaru Sani, a former commissioner, as his potential replacement.
Although El-Rufai had indicated that Governor Sani was supportive of Jafaru Sani’s nomination, recent developments suggest a change of stance.
According to information from the Peoples Gazette, Governor Sani cut short a trip to London to personally express his disagreement with Jafaru Sani’s selection as the replacement minister from Kaduna. He visited President Tinubu at the State House and conveyed his concerns.
A reliable source revealed, “Governor Sani has informed the president to anticipate an alternative nominee. He expressed his reservations about Jafaru Sani’s limited political influence in Kaduna and his strong allegiance to El-Rufai.”
Previously, El-Rufai had reportedly expressed his dissatisfaction to Tinubu about his inability to pass the Senate screening. He had mentioned his willingness to offer support from outside and his endorsement of Jafaru Sani was viewed as a way to maintain influence over Kaduna politics.
Now, with Governor Sani opposing Jafaru Sani’s candidacy, El-Rufai could find himself facing challenges on both the national and local political fronts.
