The United States has suspended visitor visas for Palestinians from Gaza following intense criticism from far-right activist Laura Loomer, a close ally of President Donald Trump.
Loomer had condemned the State Department’s approval of temporary medical-humanitarian visas for injured Gazan children, calling them “pro-Hamas” without evidence.
The decision halts visas for those seeking urgent medical treatment, including 11 critically wounded children recently brought to the US by the charity HEAL Palestine.
The group described it as the largest single medical evacuation of injured children from Gaza to the US. Loomer celebrated the suspension, claiming credit for influencing the move, while Republican lawmakers praised her intervention.
The suspension has sparked outrage among rights groups, who warn that politicizing humanitarian relief could endanger innocent lives.
Critics say Loomer’s growing influence over US policy, including past firings at Trump’s request, underscores the increasing role of far-right figures in shaping governance decisions.
