Tension Rises As Senators Reject Tinubu’s Plan to Deploy Soldiers and Cut Off Electricity in Niger Republic

A tense situation has emerged in the Nigerian Senate as some senators oppose President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s proposal to send Nigerian soldiers to Niger Republic to reinstate ousted President Mohamed Bazoum.

FRESHREPORTERS MEDIA gathered in a letter addressed to the Senate on Friday, Tinubu briefed the National Assembly about the intended military intervention in the West African nation and other measures to punish the coup plotters in Niger.

However, it has come to light that the Senate is currently holding a closed-door executive session to discuss the deployment of soldiers and the power supply cut-off already imposed on Niger Republic.

A reliable source revealed that Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged the senators to support Tinubu’s decisions concerning Niger, but they refused to listen.

The senators are reportedly against both the deployment of soldiers and the power supply cut-off that has been implemented by the Nigerian government.

FRESHREPORTERS MEDIA further reports that during the ongoing executive session, the senators expressed their opposition to any form of military action in Niger Republic. The majority of them are firmly against the deployment of soldiers and are also against the power supply cut-off that has been announced.

As the deliberations continue, the Senate President is making an appeal for the senators to endorse the steps taken by President Tinubu so far.

However, it appears that the senators are steadfastly rejecting his suggestion and appeal.
