In a horrifying incident on Saturday, a fuel-laden tanker collided with a young girl who was hawking eggs at Otedola Bridge along the Lagos end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in her untimely death.
It was gathered that the incident occurred around 3:20 PM, according to emergency officials present at the scene.
Upon reaching the site of the accident, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) discovered that a fully loaded tanker, carrying approximately 60,000 liters of diesel, had tragically crushed a female pedestrian on Otedola Bridge while heading inward Berger.
The victim, a young girl engaged in the trade of selling eggs, was unable to evade the oncoming tanker, leading to the fatal collision.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, stated that rescue operations were underway to address the dire situation at the time of this report on Saturday.
Efforts were being made to mitigate the incident’s aftermath and alleviate any further risks posed by the accident.
