Nigerian Footballer Raphael Ayagwa Assaulted For Demanding Owed Wages At Egyptian Club, Aswan (Video)

Nigerian professional footballer Raphael Ayagwa finds himself in grave danger after being mercilessly attacked by officials of Aswan, his former club in Egypt.

Despite the expiration of his contract and owed wages, Ayagwa has been subjected to physical violence and prevented from leaving the club for a much-needed break.

Ayagwa, who represented Nigeria internationally, played a pivotal role for Aswan but could not prevent their relegation at the end of the current season. His contract with the team was supposed to last until the conclusion of the 2022/2023 season.

However, when he requested full payment, the club management refused his request. In a further attempt to bind him to the team, Aswan officials coerced Ayagwa into signing a new contract, which he vehemently declined.

The situation escalated dramatically when Ayagwa, having received only a fraction of what he was owed, decided to leave and was en route to the airport with his belongings. It was at this point that club officials began assaulting him, leaving him severely beaten and in a state of distress.
