Anambra Police Intercepts Armed Robbery Gang, Recovers Two Pistols, Stolen Tricycle

The Anambra State Police have successfully intercepted an armed robbery gang responsible for the theft of a tricycle in Agu-Awka on the night of July 15, 2023 (Saturday).

According to DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the spokesperson for the state police command, the operation to apprehend the criminals was executed based on valuable intelligence received from the Police in Awka, indicating that the gang was making their escape towards Anaocha LGA.

In a well-coordinated move, the police, alongside the local vigilante, strategically laid an ambush, leading to the arrest of the three-man gang.

The authorities were able to recover two firearms, namely a Baretta Pistol and a locally made Chief Revolver Pistol, along with twelve live rounds of ammunition and one expended bullet. Additionally, the stolen tricycle has been successfully recovered.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Ebuka Madu, a 22-year-old male from Umunze, Chinedu Godwin, a 23-year-old male from Enugu State, and Udegbunam Chikezie, an 18-year-old male from Neni.

In response to this significant breakthrough, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, expressed gratitude to the public for their trust and assured them that the command would not take it for granted. He emphasized the commitment of the police to maintain law and order while relentlessly pursuing justice.

CP Aderemi Adeoye has instructed that a thorough investigation be carried out, after which the suspects will be promptly arraigned in court to face the full consequences of their actions. This latest success serves as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the Anambra State Police in ensuring the safety and security of the residents.
