Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who represents Sokoto South, received a warm welcome from residents on Thursday after his recent experience with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Videos posted on his official X handle show large crowds lining the streets of Sokoto, cheering as the former governor of the state entered the city.
In the accompanying post, Tambuwal expressed his deep appreciation for the gesture and the support shown by the people.
He wrote on X:
“I am deeply grateful to the good people of Sokoto for the warm reception and outpouring of love upon my arrival in Sokoto this afternoon. This is one honour among many that I cherish and will never take for granted.”
Tambuwal was questioned and detained by the EFCC on Monday regarding allegations of fraudulent cash withdrawals amounting to N189 billion. He was released on bail the following day.
