Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu left Abuja on Friday for official visits to Japan and Brazil, with a brief stop in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
He was seen off by several top government officials, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Minister of Finance Wale Edun, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila.
Before boarding the presidential jet, Tinubu shook hands with the dignitaries.
The trip was originally scheduled for Thursday, as announced by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, Tinubu will first travel to Yokohama, Japan, for the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) from August 20 to 22.
In addition to the conference sessions, he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings and meet with executives from Japanese companies that have invested in Nigeria.
Following his visit to Japan, the president will go to BrasĂlia for a two-day state visit from August 24 to 25.
He was invited by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
