Authorities in South Africa have arrested a female suspect in connection with the killing of a Nigerian e-hailing driver, Isaac Satlat, in Pretoria West a case that has triggered widespread outrage among Nigerians both locally and abroad.
The 22-year-old driver was attacked on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, while on duty after picking up passengers through the Bolt app. According to police, Satlat was targeted by a man and a woman who hijacked his vehicle. His body and the stolen car were recovered the same day in Atteridgeville.
A graphic video of the attack circulating on social media has been condemned by law enforcement, who have urged the public not to share it. Gauteng Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, has assigned a senior detective to lead the investigation and ensure all perpetrators are brought to justice.
Investigators are reviewing dashcam footage and witness accounts to piece together the events leading to the murder. The arrested suspect is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, February 16, 2026, facing charges of hijacking and murder. A manhunt is ongoing for the second suspect, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information.
