Media personality Madam Joyce has ignited online debate with her candid remarks on Valentine’s Day gifting in new relationships during a recent interview on the Cocktails and Takeaways podcast.
When asked whether girlfriends should give gifts to their partners, she stirred conversation by saying, “If a guy is taking you out on Valentine’s Day and you guys have been dating for only four months, you shouldn’t get him anything as gift. Even if you want to, get him some chocolate or nice card or maybe a pair of socks if you do not want to be selfish.”
Drawing from her own experience, she added, “If I was three months in, then your gift is me in red dress and red panties.” Joyce explained that she had maintained a friendship for ten months but only began giving gifts after “months and months of him paying for dates and buying me gifts and being an amazing person.”
