Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Kano have rescued a five-year-old boy, Muhammad Haruna, following his abduction in Danzaki Village, Minjibir Local Government Area. The kidnappers had demanded N15 million from the child’s family.
The rescue took place around 7:40 p.m. on February 12, 2026, after a formal complaint was lodged regarding the boy’s disappearance. The DSS swiftly deployed a tactical team that tracked the case and executed a coordinated operation, leading to the safe recovery of the minor.
During the operation, 20-year-old Aminu Mukhtar was arrested while allegedly negotiating the ransom with the victim’s father over the phone. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mukhtar confessed to abducting the boy with the intention of extorting money.
The suspect remains in DSS custody as investigations continue, while the rescued child has been placed under protective care. Authorities are following due process to ensure the victim’s safety and to apprehend any accomplices involved.
