Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has stirred fresh online debate after declaring that the country is more secure today than it was a decade ago.
Speaking on The Honest Bunch Podcast, the entertainer expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, arguing that tangible progress has been made in the area of security.
When asked by co-host Daddy Freeze whether Nigeria is safer now than ten years ago, Seyi Law responded firmly, “Nigeria is safer now than 10 years ago.” He claimed that the current government has neutralised more bandits than any administration since the time of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He challenged critics to recall when last the country experienced the kind of widespread bombings seen during the peak of the Boko Haram insurgency, suggesting that such attacks have significantly reduced.
But activist Zekeri, who joined him on the podcast, strongly disagreed. He argued that insecurity has worsened, citing recent attacks in the Northeast, a surge in kidnappings, and the killing of senior military officers. According to him, citizens are increasingly left to fend for themselves.
The discussion later turned political. Zekeri praised Peter Obi’s leadership credentials, describing his finances as traceable “down to every kobo.” Seyi Law countered by insisting that Nigeria’s economy is improving under Tinubu and that the reforms, though tough, are necessary.
The heated exchange has since gone viral, dividing Nigerians over the realities of security and economic conditions under the current administration.
