Sextortion: EFCC moves to extradite Nigerians wanted in US over teen’s death

• The EFCC has begun extradition proceedings against three young Nigerian men accused of exploiting minors and producing child pornography that resulted in death in the United States.

• The defendants, Samuel Ogoshi, his brother Samson Ogoshi, and Ezekiel Ejehem Robert, were indicted in a US Federal Court in December 2022 and face four counts.

• The trio allegedly posed as young attractive women on social media to entice unsuspecting victims to send explicit photos, sexually extorted numerous young men and teenage boys, and hacked social media accounts.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced the commencement of an extradition proceeding at the Federal High Court, Abuja against three Nigerian men: Samuel Ogoshi, his brother Samson Ogoshi, and Ezekiel Ejehem Robert.

The EFCC revealed that the defendants, aged between 19 and 22 years, face four charges, including exploitation of minors and production of child pornography resulting in death, as well as conspiracy to distribute child pornography and conspiracy to commit stalking through the internet.

According to the prosecutors, the gang sexually extorted numerous young men and teenage boys in the Western District of Michigan and across America by posing as young attractive women on social media, and hacking some social media accounts.

Samuel is specifically charged with causing the death of Jordan DeMay, 17, of Marquette in Michigan on March 25, 2022 who shot himself.

The defendants were arrested in February 2023 around the Ojo axis of Lagos and in Nasarawa by operatives of the EFCC, and are expected to be extradited to the US to face a case with minimum sentences of 5, 5 and 15 years respectively, and a maximum of life in prison.
