Gunmen abduct 40 worshippers in Kaduna

• Gunmen abducted at least 40 worshipers during a church service at Bege Baptist Church in Kaduna State on Sunday.

• 15 of the kidnapped persons managed to escape, while the remaining 25 are still in captivity with no word from the abductors.

• The Christian Association of Nigeria and the police are making efforts to contact the abductors and secure the release of the remaining individuals.

On Sunday, May 8, 2023, approximately 40 people were abducted by gunmen during a church service at Bege Baptist Church, Madala, along Buruku Baringi road, Kaduna, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Kaduna State, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, the attackers stormed the church during the Sunday service around 9:30 am, and the kidnappers took 40 worshippers.

Fifteen of the kidnapped persons have since escaped, leaving 25 individuals in captivity without any word from their abductors. Th

e authorities are currently making efforts to contact the abductors to secure the release of the remaining individuals.

When contacted, the State Police spokesman, DSP Mohammed Jalige, promised to contact the Divisional Police Officer of the affected area for prompt action.
