JUST IN! Presidential Tribunal dismisses Action Alliance’s petition challenging Tinubu’s victory

  • The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Action Alliance(AA) against Bola Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election.
  • The AA withdrew its petition during the pre-hearing session of the tribunal, and none of the other parties opposed the move.
  • AA’s presidential candidate, David Okonigbuan, challenged his exclusion from the election and claimed that the party fielded Hamza Al Mustapha as the presidential candidate.

The Action Alliance’s petition against Bola Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election has been dismissed by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal.

The AA withdrew its petition, marked as CA/PEPC/01/2023, during the pre-hearing session of the tribunal, and there was no opposition from the other parties.

The leader of the legal team of the party, Oba Maduabuchi (SAN), stated that the party’s decision to withdraw the petition led to its dismissal.

The AA’s presidential candidate, David Okonigbuan, had challenged his exclusion from the election and claimed that the party had fielded Hamza Al Mustapha as the presidential candidate.

The court has now moved to the Action Peoples Party’s petition marked as CA/PEPC/02/2023.

The presiding justice, Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, ruled that the dismissal of the AA’s petition was in line with the Electoral Act’s provisions.
