Senate pledges stronger collaboration with Nigerian Army to boost security across the Country

The Nigerian Senate has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Army to bolster national security and ensure the successful execution of military operations across the country.

The assurance was made on Thursday during an oversight visit to the Army headquarters in Abuja by the chairman of the senate committee on army, Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, and members of the committee.

The visit was part of their statutory oversight responsibilities on the implementation of the 2023 and 2024 Appropriation Acts.

Yar’Adua stated that the visit aimed to evaluate how funds allocated to the Nigerian Army were being utilised, while also assessing progress on projects captured in the national budget.

“We commend the Nigerian Army’s professionalism and commitment to duty. This exercise gives us a clear understanding of ongoing efforts and challenges. “

“The National Assembly, in partnership with the executive, remains committed to ensuring our troops receive the necessary resources to maintain peace and stability,” he said.

He also acknowledged the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, for facilitating smooth assessment visits to various Army formations and noted that the committee was impressed with the level of implementation and operational efficiency observed.

Yar’Adua praised Tinubu for prioritising national security, reaffirming the senate’s readiness to provide legislative backing to the military in carrying out its constitutional mandate.
