Security operatives apprehends suspected vote-buyer with N25.9m cash in Kaduna

A suspected vote-buyer was arrested in Kaduna with over N25.9 million in cash, which security operatives believe was intended to compromise Saturday’s by-elections in the state.

The suspect, identified as Shehu Aliyu Patangi, was apprehended at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Saturday at a hotel on Turunku Road in Kaduna metropolis.

The operation was carried out by a joint team of police and Department of State Services (DSS) operatives, along with other security agencies.

According to a statement from Kaduna Police Command spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, a total of ₦25,963,000 was recovered from Patangi.

The money is suspected to be a fund for inducing voters in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency election.

DSP Hassan stated that Patangi confessed during interrogation that the money was for bribing voters and pleaded for leniency.
