The Rivers State House of Assembly has halted the impeachment process initiated against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.
The decision was reached during the House’s rescheduled sitting in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, February 19.
The development follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent intervention in the ongoing political tension between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Lawmakers aligned with the FCT Minister had earlier in January served a notice of impeachment on the governor and his deputy, citing allegations of gross misconduct.
