On Monday, December 8, 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu convened a private meeting with six governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The discussion, lasting approximately one hour in the President’s office, concluded without any updates to the media, and no official statement regarding the meeting’s agenda has been released by the Presidency.
The governors in attendance included:
- Umar Namadi of Jigawa
- Monday Okpebholo of Edo
- Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti
- Usman Ododo of Kogi
- Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto
- Nasir Idris of Kebbi
This meeting followed a strategic retreat hosted by the Progressive Governors Forum in Lagos, where APC governors reiterated their backing for Tinubu’s policy direction and recent reforms in Nigeria’s security framework.
Although specifics from the meeting are not yet available, sources within the Villa suggest that topics of conversation may have included escalating insecurity in the North West and North Central regions, as well as internal party strategies in anticipation of upcoming political events.
