First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has shared an optimistic vision for the country’s economic trajectory, forecasting that Nigeria will start lending to other nations by 2026, driven by expected growth and prosperity.

She made this remark during an event in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Sunday, where she was honored with the chieftaincy title of Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua. This event marked the 10th coronation anniversary of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and was attended by distinguished guests including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President’s wife Nana Shettima, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, and several state governors including Ademola Adeleke, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun, and former Speaker Dimeji Bankole.

Notable attendees also included former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Lagos Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, Osun Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, and former Osun First Lady Kafayat Oyetola. Among the traditional rulers present were the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Orangun of Ila, Oba Abdulwahab Oyedotun, and the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye.

Mrs. Tinubu expressed her gratitude to the Ooni and the people of Ile-Ife for the honor, emphasizing that a season of joy has begun for Nigeria. She assured citizens that by 2026, the nation would thrive and start financially supporting other countries under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

The Ooni of Ife lauded Mrs. Tinubu for her ongoing support, while the Sultan of Sokoto prayed for the monarch and the nation. Governor Adeleke recognized the Ooni as a reformer who has promoted Yoruba culture on a global scale and affirmed the Osun State Government’s dedication to enhancing Ile-Ife’s infrastructure, including significant roadworks and a nearly completed flyover project.
