Nevertheless, Ten Hag came to the defense of the Spanish goalkeeper in the post-match interview.
He stated that making mistakes is a fundamental part of football and that everyone must be able to handle them, given that football is a team sport.
He added that the team had worked together throughout the season, and that De Gea had the most number of clean sheets, which underscores his importance to the team.
Ten Hag also emphasized that it is not uncommon for mistakes to happen in football, and that everyone should take responsibility for them.
