Arewa Leader Warns Against Senator Godswill Akpabio’s Senate Presidency Bid

  • ACF member warns against Senator Godswill Akpabio’s bid for Senate Presidency.
  • Arewa leader claims Akpabio’s emergence could spell doom for Nigeria.
  • Northern groups’ endorsement of Akpabio for Senate Presidency was denounced by ACF members.

Senator Godswill Akpabio’s bid for the Senate Presidency has received criticism from a member of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).

The leader of the Arewa community in Southern Nigeria, Musa Saidu, warned that Akpabio’s emergence as Senate President could spell doom for Nigeria. Saidu condemned Akpabio’s endorsement by a coalition of Northern groups, stating that no true Northerner would endorse him for the Senate Presidency.

In a statement, Saidu said, “We hereby dissociate ourselves from the endorsement of Akpabio for the Senate Presidency by a coalition of Northern groups. No true Northern group will want to endorse Akpabio for a sensitive position like that of Senate President because he is not friendly with the North.”

Saidu further added that as residents of the South, they know who is friendly with the Northern people, and Akpabio is not one of them. He warned against picking Akpabio for the Senate Presidency, as his emergence could spell doom for Nigeria.

The Arewa Consultative Forum is a political and cultural association of leaders in Northern Nigeria.

The group aims to promote unity, peace, and prosperity among the various ethnic groups in the region.
