Preliminary Autopsy Rules Out Food Poisöning in Déaths of Two Crew Members on Lekki Movie Set

Initial autopsy findings for two crew members found dead at a film production location in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, have ruled out food poisoning as the cause of death.

According to reports, the post-mortem revealed that one of the deceased, cinematographer Walter Odediran, 36, had no food in his stomach, while his childhood friend and colleague, Godstime Imeh a Lighting Director and Chief Officer of GeeTee Light had only a minimal amount.

The bodies of the two men were discovered on February 7, 2026, inside Imeh’s Nissan car, parked within the premises of Evercare Hospital, where a movie production was ongoing.

Sources familiar with the autopsy disclosed that pathologists found little to no food in the victims’ digestive systems. “In one case, the stomach was empty, while the other contained only a small amount of food. It was almost as if he hadn’t eaten anything,” a source told Vanguard.

To establish the exact cause of death, further toxicological and histological tests will be conducted on blood and tissue samples to determine whether the victims ingested or inhaled any harmful substances before their deaths.

Confirming the development, Walter Odediran’s elder brother, Kola Odediran, stated that the preliminary autopsy results were delivered to the family on Tuesday, February 18.

“The autopsy itself is complete, and no food was found in my late brother. The results indicate he did not eat anything. But they are going to carry out toxicology and histology tests, which will provide the definitive answers we are looking for,” he said.

The results of these additional tests are expected within two to three weeks. Relatives of the deceased expressed hope that the findings would shed light on the mysterious circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
