Police Nabs Kano Teenager Who Faked Own Kidnap, Loses N365,000 Ransom To Thieves

One Nafiu Sulaiman of 19-year-old, has been arrested by the Kano State Police Command who faked his own kidnap and lost N365,000 ransom.

Sulaiman was nabbed after collecting the ransom from his uncle, the owner of a cement shop where he worked at Garindau village in Warawa Local Government Area of Kano state.

The suspected teen confessed to police during a parade that he planned his own kidnap and intended to buy clothes and other things with the ransom.

According to Sulaiman, he said,

“I planned everything. I used another line to call my boss, who is also my uncle. I demanded a ransom and asked them to drop it somewhere. I stayed there all these long, and when I needed food, I came out to buy and go back.

“But I didn’t use even one per cent of the money. I spent only N20,000 and buried the money somewhere. When I got there I found the money was stolen.”

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Gumel, said the suspect was arrested amidst the course of an investigation.
