Police Bust Couple Running Alcohol Adulterating Factory in Ogun State (Photos)

The Nigerian Police Force’s Zone 2 command has detained a couple who had been manufacturing and supplying various alcoholic drinks that had been contaminated illegally to markets in Ogun and Lagos states for the last six years.

The CSP Ngozi Braide-led Raider Section of the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos, apprehended the suspects, Margret Austine and her husband, Austine Idemudia (also known as Baba Joshua), according to a press release issued by the Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), SP Ayuba T. Umma.

Based on information about the illicit manufacture, the agents stormed the couple’s Muibi Olawumi Close home off Ayetoro/Itẹle Road on April 4.

During the operation, they found counterfeit wine, liquor, champagne, and other alcoholic beverages.

These comprise the bottle and small pack labels for Del-Mud, Del-Mud Royal, and Smooth Brandy Wine beverages.

Unlabeled and branded bottles of allegedly tainted alcoholic beverages as well as a number of containers with mixes thought to be the adulterated beverages’ components were also found, according to a.

According to the ZPPRO, a variety of production and branding devices, including pumping machines, funnels, sealing machines, a funnel with a white handkerchief (used as a filter), and a corkscrew, were all discovered from the site.

After being detained at the spot, Margret, the female suspect, admitted to having been involved in the illicit activity for six years and admitting that their tainted final goods were sold to customers in the states of Ogun and Lagos.
