In a significant breakthrough, the Gombe State Police have apprehended four individuals identified as Hassan Adamu (18), Abdulaziz Abubakar (20), Abdullahi Shuaibu (25), and an unnamed accomplice, for their alleged involvement in stealing goats.
The arrest was confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, during a press briefing. According to Abubakar, the gang specialized in utilizing tricycles to carry out their illicit activities.
The operation to apprehend the suspects was launched based on intelligence gathered by the Gombe division.
The thieves targeted communities in Malam Inna and Wuro Kesa, where they would steal goats and subsequently sell them. Prompt action by the police led to the arrest of the culprits at their respective hideouts.
During questioning, the four suspects confessed to their involvement in the goat thefts. The police have recovered key evidence, including one tricycle used by the gang and one goat, which was likely stolen.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to gather further evidence to strengthen their case against the suspects.
ASP Mahid Abubakar assured the public that the police will continue to pursue the investigation until all aspects of the case are thoroughly examined. Once the investigation is complete, the suspects will be charged and brought before the court to face legal proceedings.
