Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25, 2023 election, has refuted claims that he granted a media interview suggesting his intention to run for the office of the President in 2027.
In a Twitter post on Saturday, the former Anambra State governor expressed his dismay over what he referred to as an “emerging pattern” of fake media reports.
Obi categorically stated that the alleged interview never took place and labeled both reports as baseless.
He affirmed his commitment to addressing national issues through recognized news and media outlets.
Obi emphasized that his primary objective, alongside the Obidient Movement, remains the creation of a new Nigeria and the empowerment of the marginalized.
During the election, Obi secured the third position, following Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Both Obi and Atiku have taken their cases to court, contesting the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that Tinubu emerged as the winner of the election.
As the legal battle continues, the political landscape in Nigeria remains vibrant, with various parties and candidates actively engaged in shaping the country’s democratic future.
