A devastating mass shooting unfolded on Saturday morning in Hampton, resulting in the deaths of four individuals. The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. in the Dogwood Lakes area, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
The victims, all adults, were shot and killed at four separate locations within close proximity. At this time, authorities are withholding their names to ensure that their families are informed and given privacy to grieve.
Hampton Police Department Chief James Turner identified the suspect as Andre Longmore, a 41-year-old black male. Longmore, who stands approximately 5’10” to 5’11” tall, was last seen wearing gray pants and a dark shirt with a red tone. He was armed with a black handgun.
The authorities have issued four murder warrants for the arrest of Longmore, who is believed to be unrelated to the victims. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown as investigators continue their work.
During a press conference, Chief Turner expressed the commitment of law enforcement to bring Longmore to justice. He announced that the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Reginald Scandrett, is actively pursuing the suspect with the cooperation of various agencies, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Henry County Police, U.S. Marshals, Henry County Fire Department, and Henry County Emergency Management Agency (EMA).
Sheriff Scandrett emphasized the seriousness of the situation and urged the public to remain vigilant. A $10,000 reward has been offered by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for any information leading to Longmore’s arrest, apprehension, and prosecution. Citizens are advised not to approach the suspect due to his dangerous nature but instead to contact 911 or provide information to CrimeStoppers at 404.577.8477.
As the investigation continues and the community grapples with this tragedy, Chief Turner expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by numerous law enforcement and public safety agencies. He commended the collaborative efforts of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Henry County Police Department, Henry County Crime Scene Unit, GBI, Henry County Fire Department, and Henry County EMA.
Sheriff Scandrett concluded the press conference with a stern message to Longmore, assuring the community that law enforcement would relentlessly pursue him until he is brought into custody. He vowed to leave no stone unturned in the search for the suspect, emphasizing the unwavering commitment to justice.
