Pastor Chris Okafor, the senior pastor of a Lagos church, has surrendered to the police following multiple allegations of sexual assault and other offenses that have raised public concern.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that Okafor failed to honor an initial invitation on Monday, prompting the Commissioner of Police to issue an arrest order. The pastor subsequently turned himself in on Tuesday. Due to the case already being under investigation at Zone 2 for about three weeks, it has been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police overseeing that zone.
The controversy began in December 2025 when serious allegations, including claims by a Nollywood actress, surfaced online. The public outcry reportedly led Okafor to apologize to his congregation and step aside from his pastoral duties. The police stated that they took swift action to prevent a breach of public peace and have assured security for the alleged victims as the investigations continue.
