Oyo State Orders Half-Day for Workers to Celebrate 50th Anniversary

The Oyo State Government has approved an early closure of work for all state employees on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, to enable their participation in the grand finale of the state’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.

A statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Musibau Adetunji Babatunde, directed that all government offices under Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) close by 12:00 noon.

The approval, granted by Governor Seyi Makinde, is part of the final preparations for the landmark ‘OyoStateAt50’ event, which is anticipated to draw significant attendance from civil servants and other stakeholders across the state.

While mandating strict compliance, the government instructed heads of MDAs to maintain skeletal services in essential sectors to ensure critical government operations are not interrupted.

The SSG also called for the wide dissemination of the information to ensure all workers and the public are adequately informed.
