In a recent development, the Libya Security Forces, specifically the 77th Company of the 128th Brigade, have apprehended a Nigerian woman on charges of possessing paraphernalia related to sorcery and witchcraft.
The arrest took place over the weekend in Sokna, a town located in the Fezzan region of southwest Libya, known for its Saharan desert oasis.
Following her detention, the woman was subsequently transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department in the Al-Jafra district.
It was during the interrogation process that she purportedly confessed to engaging in acts of “witchcraft and sorcery” alongside her husband, who is also implicated in the case. The alleged activities took place in Sabha, a city in southwestern Libya.
