Again, the Nigerian military has achieved a significant victory in its fight against terrorism by successfully neutralizing a large number of fighters in well-coordinated airstrikes near Lake Chad in Borno State.
The airstrikes, which occurred on Sunday, June 18, 2023, targeted the river banks of Kwalaram, Bukar Mairam, Abbaganaram, and Yarwa Kura in the Marte Local Government Area.
This decisive operation was the result of weeks of meticulous Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which provided critical information on the terrorists’ locations. Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region, received this information from intelligence sources.
According to the sources, ground assessments following the airstrikes confirmed that the Nigerian Air Component troops successfully neutralized scores of fighters and destroyed the makeshift tents used by the terrorists as safe havens.
The operation was carried out as part of OPERATION WARUN 3, an ongoing campaign specifically designed to eradicate Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists from the North East region of Nigeria.
