The Borno State Command of the Nigeria Police Force announced that the state police command successfully disarmed an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at the entrance of the University of Maiduguri on Monday.
This was stated by the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Nahum Daso, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri.
Daso said that on Monday, December 4, at about 9:00 a.m., a suspicious device was discovered near the main gate of the school.
He said the command center immediately dispatched an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team member to the scene, who confirmed that the explosive device was a fabricated Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
He said, “In a swift response, the command post’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team sprang into action and successfully diffused the IED without loss of life or property.”
He stressed that the police had launched an investigation to determine the perpetrators and their motives.
