Nigeria and UAE Sign Major Trade Deal Granting Duty-Free Access for Nigerian Goods

President Bola Tinubu has announced the signing of a landmark Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The deal, finalized on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, grants duty-free access to the UAE market for thousands of Nigerian products.

President Tinubu stated the agreement will significantly boost opportunities for Nigerian exporters, manufacturers, and service providers while providing UAE investors with greater confidence to invest in Nigeria’s productive economy. He emphasized that the deal aligns with Nigeria’s core agenda of industrialization and economic diversification and solidifies the country’s position as a gateway for trade and investment in Africa.

“This is the work of economic reform, purposeful engagement and measured partnerships,” Tinubu said, commending the negotiating teams led by Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, and her UAE counterpart.

The President expressed optimism that the renewed and strengthened partnership will deliver lasting economic benefits to the citizens and economies of both nations, describing the outcomes as serving Nigeria’s “long-term national interest.”
