Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA have successfully intercepted what appears to be $20 million in counterfeit currency during a routine stop and search operation along the Abaji-Lokoja road within the Federal Capital Territory.
According to a statement released on Sunday by NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the discovery was made when a bus traveling from Lagos to Abuja was searched.
The 53-year-old driver of the vehicle, Onyebuchi Nlededin, was apprehended in connection with the counterfeit money.
On the previous day, another incident occurred where a man named Jude Ndubuisi, aged 52, was arrested with 2.2 kilograms of methamphetamine during a raid operation at Kabusa village in the FCT.
This individual had previously been arrested on July 7, 2022, with 20.75 kilograms of cannabis. Despite being on court bail for his ongoing prosecution, he was once again nabbed for another drug-related crime.

Additionally, recent raids were conducted on two notorious drug joints within the FCT, specifically Dei Dei and Tora-Bora Hills.
These operations resulted in the seizure of 82.8 kilograms of skunk, 1.8 kilograms of rohypnol, and 1.2 kilograms of diazepam on August 16th.
In a separate incident on August 19th, NDLEA operatives apprehended a wanted billionaire drug baron named Paulinus Ojukwu.
This operation took place at a warehouse concealed within the popular International Trade Fair Complex in Alaba, Ojo area of Lagos State.
The haul recovered from the warehouse included 1.4 million pills of tramadol 225mg (826 kilograms), 3.2 million pills of codeine (3,360 kilograms), and 2,841 cartons of codeine syrup containing 284,100 bottles with 28,410 liters of the psychoactive substance.
The total street value of these seized substances was estimated to be N4.82 billion.
Faith Ebele Nwankwo, identified as a drug baroness, was also apprehended earlier. She was found in possession of 2,750,000 pills of tramaking, a brand of tramadol 225mg and 250mg.
